Wayfinding Programs
In June of 2007, The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) adopted a new signing program called the "Wayfinding Program". This Program was established to allow municipalities the oppurtunity to install and maintain directional signs, within an established region, to direct motorists to civic, cultural, visitor, and recreational destinations. For a municipality to participate, they must have an active Municipal Maintenance Agreement with TxDOT and get an approved "Wayfinding Guide Sign System Plan" from TxDOT.
Until now, most municipalities wishing to participate have had little success getting their "Wayfinding Guide Sign Sytem Plan" approved by TxDOT without deficiencies.
